Computer forensics is not an easy branch of science. In fact you will be required to work whole heartedly throughout the course so that you learn most of the tricks which will help you when you will be investigating any forensic case when you will get the license. However I do feel that once you join this course you only job is to learn well and try to top in the college.
There are many points which you will have to keep in mind if you want to top in the school. At first you will have to understand that what will be the course material. I would give you some tricks in detail:
1. Try to develop the Innovative qualities As far as the course of computer forensics is concerned, the skill which is required the most is the innovation. Even in your first exam, 60% of the question will be innovative in nature. You will be given some situation and with the help of the practical approach of the theory you will have to solve those cases.
For example you can be asked to crack the password of some system. Yes off coarse you will be given some hint. I hope you have understood what I am trying to emphasize on.
Take another example, suppose a very important document of the enemy is saved in some hard disk and is protected by some biometric system. Then you might be asked to give the solution about how that password can be hacked.
2. Try to be analytic A computer forensic expert must be analytic. You should be good at mathematics because many cases will require mathematics. You should have good hands on various computer technologies. In fact you should try to learn all the computer technologies which you come across. You really do not know that what technology the convict might be using and hence you will have to make sure that you know most of the technologies.
3. Be punctual to attend classes I do feel that you will have to be punctual in attending the classes. There are lots of practical involved in case of the course and most of your marks will be in the hand of your professors and hence you will have to make sure that all of the professors are happy as far as you are concerned. Hence I must tell you that you will definitely act as an obedient student in front of the professors. In fact you should be always because in this way you will be able to learn more.
