Food of the Gods: This is a terrible adaptation of H. G. Wells’ novel. An odd event has caused mammoth expansion in the size of wasps, chickens and rats. Cast includes Marjoe Gortner, Pamela Franklin, Ida Lupino, Jon Cypher, and Ralph Meeker. (88 minutes, 1976)
The Plot against Harry: Entertaining, perceptive look at N.Y.C. life in reference to an aging mobster just sprung from jail, who finds the old guard changing, and his life unravelling. Barfly: Surprisingly entertaining photograph of L.A. lowlife, and boozy, recklessly macho author Henry Chinaski, played with bravado by Rourke. Dunaway is magnificent as his alcoholic soulmate. Based on the auoobiographical writings of cult top choice Charles Bukowski, who might be noticed on one of the bar stools. Cast includes Mickey Rourke, Faye Dunaway, Alice Krige, Jack Nance, J.c. Quinn, and Frank Stallone. (97 minutes, 1987)
Doughboys: This is one of Buster’s poorest films, a tiresome Army comedy. Rude sergeant Brophy overrides the few laughs. Cast includes Buster Keaton, Sally Eilers, Cliff Edwards, and Edward Brophy. (79 minutes, 1930)
Fade-In: Strange little film made concurrently with Blue, in reference to love event between film editor Loden and guy she meets when performing on location. Not extremely excellent, however an absolute curiousity on no account discharged theatrically. Cast includes Burt Reynolds, Barbara Loden, Noam Pitlik, Patricia Casey, James Hampton, and Joseph Perry. (93 minutes, 1968)
Trade: A thirteen-year-old gal is kidnapped by members of a sex-trafficking ring. As her older sibling follows her track, he hooks up with a Texas cop (Kline) who has his own rationales for chasing this outfit of bad guys. Downbeat drama reveals a stunning, debasing circumstance, although it’s maddeningly choppy, one second daring and commanding (particularly with Finnish actress Bachleda) and the next remarkably corny. Cast includes Kevin Kline, Alicia Bachleda, Paulina Gaitan, Kathleen Gati, Pasha D. Lychnikoff, Anthony Crivello, Linda Emond, Zack Ward, Cesar Ramos, Marco Perez, and Tim Reid. (120 minutes, 2007)
Food of the Gods 2: This time, as a result of hormone experiments gone bad, tremendously big rats terrorize a college campus. Cast includes Paul Coufos, Lisa Schrage, Jackie Burroughs, Colin Fox, and Frank Moore. (91 minutes, 1989)
The Belles of St. Trinians: Humorous movie of Ronald Searle’s cartoons about an entirely insane school for gals, run by a dotty headmistress whose brother, a bookie, desires to use school to his benefit. Cast includes Alastair Sirn, Joyce Grenfell, George Cole, Hermione Baddeley, and Beryl Reid. (90 minutes, 1954)
Shadow of a Doubt: Perceptive Americana entangled with tale of youthful gal who gradually comes to grasp her cherished Uncle Charley is seriously the Cheery Widow killer. Cast includes Teresa Wright, Joseph Cotten, Macdonald Carey, Patricia Collinge, Henry Travers, Wallace Ford, and Hume Cronyn. (108 minutes, 1943)
